A stone, unearthed by coal miners in 2002, had been proudly displayed in the hall of a school in the town of Biloela, Australia.

For 23 years, the rock remained completely anonymous until a team of researchers was engaged to examine it. Strange footprints appeared on it.

The palaeontologists, after observation, uncovered dozens of fossilised dinosaur footprints. ”It's incredible to think that such a rich piece of history could have been lying in a schoolyard all this time,” noted Anthony Romilio, a palaeontologist from the University of Queensland.

As reported by the media outlet 20 Minutes, there were 66 footprints of a dinosaur called Anomoepus scambus (a small bipedal herbivore) that were revealed. These dated back to the early Jurassic period, almost 200 million years ago. According to Anthony Romilio, this is “one of the highest concentrations of dinosaur footprints” ever found in the country.
