Imagine: your cash machine, instead of giving you 5 notes, hands you 10, for free. Sounds like a dream, right? But that's exactly what happened on 17 May in India, not far from a hotel in Moinbagh.

As reported by local daily Munisf Daily, the dream came true in the Moinbagh neighbourhood (India). Initially, a customer simply wanted to withdraw some cash from the machine. After completing the withdrawal, the man realised the machine had given him far more notes than he’d asked for. The same thing happened to the person behind him. Surprised, then quite concerned they might have lost money, the customers then received a text from their bank confirming that the debited amount matched what they’d requested – not what they’d actually received, as highlighted by the publication Demotivateur.

Crowd gathers round the cash machine

The technical glitch quickly made its way round the city, and attracted several people to the machine, all hoping to benefit from the error. According to those present, some lucky individuals managed to obtain 3,000 to 4,000 rupees (30 to 40 euros). That’s a significant sum given the average salary in India is 21,000 rupees (about 210 euros).

It was a local resident who eventually put a stop to the spree, informing the police about the malfunction.
