A growing number of Americans are avoiding eggs due to their steadily rising cost, according to a recent study.
Research conducted by Clarify Capital found that 34% of Americans are actively avoiding buying eggs as prices become increasingly unaffordable. Respondents indicated that they would only consider purchasing eggs if the price drops to $5 or less per carton.
Nearly all survey participants reported noticing a sharp increase in egg prices in recent months.
The study also highlighted that 61% of Americans are eating fewer eggs due to rising costs, while 44% are using fewer eggs in cooking and baking.
Egg supplies in the U.S. have been severely impacted by a surge in avian flu outbreaks.
Despite looming tariff threats, Washington has reached out to several European countries, including Denmark, to assess their egg stocks and explore future import options.
