A Russian commander was killed last Friday in Ukraine's latest strike in the Kursk region, reportedly involving the use of an American-made HIMARS system, according to the pro-Kremlin Telegram channel Dosye Shpiona.

The strike targeted the command post of the Russian 30th Motor Rifle Regiment and resulted in seven deaths, including the regiment’s deputy commander, a radio operator, and five infantry soldiers.

This information, shared by a pro-Russian source, has not been independently verified.

Despite Donald Trump’s return to the White House and early diplomatic talks between Russia and the United States, the conflict—sparked by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022—continues unabated. A separate Russian offensive recently killed around thirty people in the Ukrainian city of Sumy.

Ukraine has been using HIMARS systems to strike targets inside Russia, following authorization granted by President Joe Biden before he left office.

"It is worth noting that the enemy knew about the location of the forward command post. It was periodically subjected to drone and missile attacks. The command made no efforts to move or conceal it," the Telegram channel added.
