Russia is trying to woo Donald Trump in an attempt to strike a deal with him over Ukraine that would work out favourably for Russia.

Ukraine has already concluded a mineral deal with the US and Qatar donated a Boeing 747: now Russia also wants to reach a deal with American President Donald Trump from which they can profit. Trump often does not act like a president, but rather like a businessman. That’s why Moscow wants to offer Trump business incentives to curry favour with him and reach an agreement over Ukraine.

Reportedly, the Kremlin is considering granting American companies access to valuable resources such as titanium, uranium and rare earth metals. In return, Trump would be allowed to build a Trump Tower in Moscow.

In light of these considerations, it may also be relevant to view Donald Trump’s statement after last week’s phone call with President Vladimir Putin. In that conversation, the two presidents discussed not only the conflict in Ukraine but also the trade relations between the US and Russia. On social media, Trump spoke of the “enormous potential” that Russia offers in that regard, and the “trade that Russia wants to conduct on a large scale with the US.”
