It was in 2005, on the set of the American show The Ellen Show, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, that the famous star of the Fast and Furious saga revealed his real name.
Vin Diesel, 20 years ago, revealed his real name for the first time as well as what contributed to making him so famous in the film industry.
Although the name fits perfectly with the car saga Fast and Furious, it wasn't chosen for the occasion. Ellen DeGeneres, on her show, found out that the real name of the one who plays Dominic Toretto in the saga was Mark Vincent. An alias that the actor has borne for a long time, well before the start of his film career, reports the media outlet Demotivator. Indeed, before he took off on the big screen, "Vin Diesel" was a bouncer in upscale establishments in the Big Apple (editor's note: New York City), a city that saw him grow up. And, according to his statements, it was common for some of his colleagues to choose "fictitious names" in case they got into "trouble". A trend that Diesel followed, leaving his colleagues to choose his stage name.
"This guy is Diesel", even in the cinema!
"Vin" refers to his family name "Vincent", and as for "Diesel"... The actor explained during his appearance on the Ellen Show that “in New York, when you were a bit muscular, they said: ‘This guy is Diesel’”. Standing at 1.83m and weighing 94 kilos at the time, the nickname stuck with him so much that Vin Diesel decided to keep using it during his first auditions.
A revelation that surprises some of the actor's fans, who only discovered the true identity of the actor today. “It's funny, even with a name as ridiculous as Vin Diesel, I never wondered if it was his real name or not, haha”, “I thought Diesel was the surname of the person who invented the first diesel engine”, could be read on Reddit.
