As acts of vandalism against Tesla vehicles have surged in recent weeks, the White House has called on the FBI to form a special task force to curb these malicious actions.
The announcement was made this week by Kash Patel, the new director of the federal agency, amid increasing attacks on Elon Musk’s company, which has faced criticism due to its prominent role within the government — particularly within the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Musk was appointed by former President Donald Trump to reduce bureaucracy and lay off parts of the federal workforce.
Ben Williamson, the FBI’s assistant director of public affairs, confirmed the announcement on X, stating that the task force would work “in conjunction with the ATF to coordinate investigative activity and crack down on violent Tesla attacks.”
A few weeks ago, President Trump declared that the boycott of Tesla was “illegal” and pledged to purchase a Tesla vehicle himself in a show of support for his ally.
