Frequent flyers are probably all too familiar with the situation: the plane has barely landed when impatient travellers stand up to grab their bags from the overhead compartment and crowd the aisle in a rush to get off as quickly as possible.
The Turkish aviation authority aims to tackle this: anyone who does not follow the instructions of the stewards and stewardesses and stands up too soon now risks an administrative fine of around 85 euros.
Kemal Yüsek, Director General of the Turkish Civil Aviation Authority, told the British newspaper The Independent that the measure is designed to guarantee the safety of all passengers.
According to The Independent, Turkish Airlines, Emirates, and Qatar Airways are considering introducing this rule.
