"Best Friends Forever": A statue representing Trump and Epstein discreetly placed in front of the Capitol

The artwork, a statue depicting US President Donald Trump and the late businessman Jeffrey Epstein holding hands, was placed in the early hours of September 23 in front of the Capitol (Washington D.C).

According to the British daily The Guardian, at the foot of the statue are two commemorative plaques: one repeating a statement once made by billionaire Epstein about the current White House occupant, Donald Trump. “We celebrate the enduring bond between President Donald J. Trump and his ‘closest friend,’” the first plaque reads.

The second includes excerpts from a card Trump wrote for Epstein’s birthday, the contents of which were revealed in July of this year by the Wall Street Journal. “We have some things in common, Jeffrey,” “Riddles never get old,” and finally, “May each day be another wonderful secret.”

The “Best Friends Forever” statue is the creation of the anonymous art collective The Secret Handshake. According to the Belgian media 7sur7, the creators define it as “an act of free expression intended to provoke reflection on the past ties between the two men.”
