Mitch Hutchcraft, a 32-year-old triathlete from Cambridgeshire, UK, completed an exceptional tour de force on Saturday. It is an extreme sporting achievement that pushes the limits of human endurance both physically and mentally.

Triathlete Mitch was at the top of Mount Everest last Saturday, and that was his 'finish line'. The British endurance athlete had taken on a serious challenge: swimming, cycling, and running 13,000 kilometres (over 8,000 miles), and then successfully climbing to the summit of Mount Everest.

The British triathlete began this crazy adventure on 14 September 2024. He set off from Dover, first swimming 35 kilometres (21,7 miles) in the Channel. Then Mitch got on his bike and after 12000 kilometres (7456 miles), arrived in India from Europe. When he managed to reach Kathmandu (Nepal) after 900 kilometres (559 miles) of running, he began his climb to the top of Mount Everest. And he completed it on Saturday.

"I've dreamed of this since I was 8 years old, when I read about it in a book", he told the press. "But I never dared to think this would be the way I would get there. It's been quite the adventure."

The 32-year-old Mitch Hutchcraft hopes to be an inspiration to other people. "Challenge yourself and never compare yourself to anyone else."
