Last week, the search for the body of missing toddler Maddie McCann resumed in Portugal. And it appears that a number of discoveries were made by the German and Portuguese police, according to CNN Portugal. These include clothing and bones that were found within the sealed-off search area.

Specifically, water from two wells was pumped out to allow investigators to look for possible clues. The house where main suspect Christian Brückner lived in 2007 was also thoroughly searched again, according to local media. The German newspaper ‘Bild’ reports that this latest search focused on the area between the Ocean Club—the resort where the almost four-year-old girl disappeared in 2007—and a derelict farmhouse where the German Christian Brückner lived at the time, less than three kilometres from the resort.

Madeleine McCann, who was almost four years old at the time, disappeared in May 2007 while on holiday in Portugal with her parents. While her parents were dining with friends at a restaurant in a holiday resort in Praia da Luz, she vanished from her room.

Forensic investigations now have to determine whether there is a link between the clothing and bones found and the British toddler who disappeared in Praia da Luz in 2007.
