Denmark is going to send groups of soldiers to Ukraine to participate in training courses, said the head of the Scandinavian country's army, Peter Boysen.
Mr Boysen told TV2 that the aim was to allow Danish soldiers to learn new combat techniques and, above all, to gain experience in the use of drones on the front line. "We're going to send a few groups to see directly what the Ukrainians have learned," said Mr Boysen, who noted that it had not yet been decided how many participants there would be and the date of their journey, although the plan foresees they will start from next summer.
The soldiers won't be armed and will be placed in training centres in western Ukraine, far from the front line. "These soldiers will not actively participate in the war. They will learn from their experience and will travel at the invitation of my counterpart, the head of the Ukrainian army," said Mr Boysen. He downplayed the possibility that Danish soldiers would be the target of Russian attacks. "In the event of a missile attack, the Ukrainians have good alarm systems and good shelters. I have myself spent time in some of them in Kiev," he said.
