Denmark has stepped up efforts to improve its defence capabilities, recognising that the current strategy is no longer sufficient to meet the growing challenge from Russia.

In recent months, the Danish government has decided to allocate €6.7 billion to defence for this year and next. This significant increase in defence spending is aimed at modernising the Danish armed forces and providing them with the necessary resources to face new forms of warfare.

The challenge isn't only military but also logistical and strategic. Denmark and its Baltic allies have begun to consider the need to reconfigure their supply chains and strengthen international cooperation, not only with NATO but also with other key players in the region, such as Poland and the Scandinavian countries. The need for a swift and coordinated response to any Russian aggression is more urgent than ever.

In addition to Denmark, the Baltic states - Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania - are also taking steps to strengthen their defence capabilities in the face of new threats. These three countries are developing and expanding their defence industries to focus on both traditional armaments and cutting-edge technologies such as drones and cyber defence systems. The emphasis on technological innovation is aimed at mitigating the effects of Russian tactics, which have achieved remarkable integration in the digital and autonomous domains.

The increased investment in defence by the Baltic states has also led to the creation of new security infrastructures, such as command and control centres, early warning systems, and better interoperability with NATO forces. These measures are designed to ensure a more agile and effective defence in the event of conflict, adapting to the threats now posed by Russia.
