Dutch woman (34) dies at illegal rave in France

A 34-year-old Dutch woman has died during an illegal rave in eastern France, between Innimond and Lompnas, in the Ain department near Lyon.

Attempts by emergency services to resuscitate her were unsuccessful. The cause of death is still unknown and is being investigated. It is not yet clear whether drugs played a role.

The party, which took place despite a ban by the French authorities, attracted around 5,000 visitors. Several attendees needed medical treatment, but no details about their conditions have been released.

The police and civil protection services are present in large numbers and are currently not shutting down the event in order to avoid confrontations. They are, however, checking vehicles, issuing fines to attendees, and restricting access to the site but are not taking forceful action to immediately end the party.
