The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, stated that she would assess the possibility of training Ukrainian soldiers in their own country.
The Coalition of Volunteers is willing to provide security assurances to Ukraine after a ceasefire with Russia. "This is one of the questions we're going to discuss in the future - what more can the EU missions do? Should we extend the mandate? Should we include other elements? Should we also discuss where this training takes place?" said Kaja Kallas to the press as she arrived at the first meeting of defence ministers from the member countries of the Coalition of Volunteers.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom announced a new military aid programme of £450 million (€522 million) to the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting, chaired by the British and German governments.
