"Every sanction weakens Russia's ability to wage war"

On Thursday in Rome, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, condemned Russia for carrying out the toughest attacks against Ukrainian civilians since the start of the war.

She once again called for sanctions to be imposed as a means of weakening Moscow.

"Today, Russia is carrying out the harshest attacks on Ukrainian civilians since the beginning of the war," said Kaja Kallas during the press conference held as part of the meeting in Rome between the foreign ministers and representatives of Italy, Germany, Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom, France and Ukraine, as well as NATO and the EU.

She added that Moscow "only responds with force", calling for more sanctions to put pressure on Vladimir Putin.

"That's why we have proposed a new package of sanctions, because every sanction weakens Russia's ability to wage this war," Kallas pointed out.
