Experts are raising concerns that Tesla is being sidelined in favor of other electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers such as Chinese giant BYD.
Since being appointed head of the Department for Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk has sparked numerous controversies—both for his provocative statements and his growing influence over Donald Trump.
According to recent research by Electrify Research, public interest in the Tesla brand has dropped from 30% in July 2023 to just 21% in January of this year.
In countries like the UK, France, Germany, and even the United States, Tesla has lost its top position as the most popular EV brand, falling to seventh place.
Tesla’s year-over-year sales have taken a sharp hit, with a 60% drop in Germany and a 40% drop in France.
Ben Marks, Managing Director at Electrify Research, explained: “Because we ask all homeowners about general brand desirability, the picture we get is more about broad brand perception—shaped more by cultural context than by specific products.”
Meanwhile, protests are planned across the UK in the coming weeks, reflecting growing discontent with Musk and his leadership of the company.
