This new type of aircraft will be available between 2032 and 2035.

The achievement? A Paris-New York flight in just 90 minutes. It's the Swiss start-up Destinus that intends to set this new record.

The “Destinus S” is a supersonic plane that can reach a speed of Mach 5, approximately 5,300km/h, which is 5 times the speed of sound, reports the French media Demotivateur.

A human or an AI at the controls?

The company Destinus will equip this liquid hydrogen craft with a ramjet and two turbojets. It will be 40 metres long and can accommodate 25 passengers (no more) on board. As Science et Vie indicates, the Destinus S, “for a short period of time”, will be able to fly at an altitude of 33km. And since the Swiss start-up is known for manufacturing AI (artificial intelligence) piloted devices, there's already speculation about whether the Destinus S will be in the hands of a human or an algorithm... This information has not yet been revealed, so patience is required.
