An unmanned aircraft made in Flanders designed to shoot down hostile drones is almost ready to be deployed in Ukraine.

The 'Saboteur', as the device is called, was manufactured in Bruges, and is now looking at the possibilities in Ukraine with an open perspective. The company aims to save lives in Ukraine with this 'Flemish Saboteur'. "Once the funds are available, we could build a few hundred this year and several thousand next year," says Filip Verhaeghe, manager of Sol.One, in Het Nieuwsblad. The Saboteur is designed to fly at an altitude of 3 kilometres, high enough to be unreachable by classic anti-aircraft weapons. The priority is to stop drones that cause many civilian casualties. "Every night, Ukrainian cities are bombarded by Shaheds, Russian drones. We have designed an unmanned aircraft that can stop them. An anti-drone drone, in other words." The Saboteur has a total range of 500 kilometres, 250 kilometres one way and back. The idea is to patrol the front line as a group. It is 1,300 kilometres long, so many drones will be needed, and with investments, this production could quickly commence.
