Finnish President Alexander Stubb has proposed April 20—which falls on Easter Sunday—as the deadline for securing a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

Stubb traveled to Florida late last week to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at his private estate. During their discussions—held over a round of golf—the two leaders spoke about the ongoing war as well as bilateral relations between Finland and the United States.

During a visit to London on Monday, Stubb told reporters that their talks had covered the war in Ukraine, along with Finland’s continued support for Kyiv.

The Finnish leader used the occasion to urge Trump to set and enforce a firm deadline for a ceasefire.

"A ceasefire must be achieved in time, and in order for it to be achieved in time, a deadline is needed. And our outcome is that April 20 would be a good time for a full ceasefire without any kind of conditions," Stubb said.

Following their meeting, Trump took to Truth Social, writing: "President Stubb and I look forward to strengthening the partnership between the United States and Finland, and that includes the purchase and development of a large number of badly needed Icebreakers for the US, delivering Peace and International Security for our Countries and the World."
