French President Emmanuel Macron is set to visit Greenland on June 15, in a symbolic show of support for the Arctic territory amid growing interest from the United States—particularly from Donald Trump.

During the visit, Macron will meet with Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. According to both governments, the leaders will discuss Arctic security, climate change, the energy transition, and access to critical minerals.

Macron’s visit comes at a time when Washington is reportedly eyeing the possibility of annexing Greenland, primarily due to its vast mineral resources. The Trump administration has long shown interest in the region, home to the Pituffik Air Base, which has been operated by the U.S. military since 1951.

The Danish Prime Minister described Macron’s visit as "a testament to European unity."

Greenland is believed to contain significant untapped mineral wealth, much of it still hidden beneath thick ice sheets.

Earlier this year, U.S. Vice President JD Vance visited the American military base and sharply criticized Copenhagen’s alleged neglect of Greenland during a public address.
