Greenland’s main political parties have issued a joint statement condemning what they call Donald Trump’s “unacceptable behavior”, as the U.S. president continues his aggressive campaign to take control of the territory.

In a press release, Greenland’s party leaders stated that they “do not accept the repeated statements about annexation and control of Greenland.”

This united response comes after a meeting between Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, during which Trump once again insisted on his desire to acquire Greenland, a territory that remains under the sovereignty of the Danish Crown.

Greenland’s Prime Minister, Mute B. Egede, who recently lost the country’s elections on Tuesday, initiated this strong rebuttal to Trump’s latest remarks.

"Our country will never be the USA, and we Greenlanders will never be Americans. Don’t keep treating us with disrespect. Enough is enough," Egede wrote in a Facebook post.

Since taking office, Trump has repeatedly expressed his determination to annex Greenland, by any means necessary.
