If you open your car doors, you'll notice precise aesthetic details related to the brand or model chosen. Look closely, and you might also find this "hidden" feature.

It often goes unnoticed, yet... this small metallic piece, that looks like a hook, can make all the difference in certain situations.

This sort of hook, located at the back of the vehicle's frame, helps to ensure that the door's properly closed, reports the media Linternaute.

A feature that hides others

And it’s not its only function. Indeed, it can also serve as a footrest to facilitate access to the car roof. With holidays approaching, bicycles, skis, and other equipment can be installed directly on the roof of the vehicle or stored in a roof box. And that’s where our "hidden" piece comes in, allowing the attachment of a small step to more easily reach the roof.

To avoid pressing on the door frame, you can therefore support yourself on this step, which attaches to the door hook via a metal clasp. The lower part of this step rests on a rubber piece to avoid damaging the bodywork, indicates Linternaute. Once this accessory is properly placed, you can climb and access the roof of your car more easily, a practicality for shorter people or the elderly who fear falling.
