Husband sets wife (46) on fire in tram

Police in Germany are searching for a man of Georgian descent who doused his 46-year-old wife in a flammable liquid and set her alight on a tram in Germany last weekend.

These horrific events took place on public transport in Gera, a city in eastern Germany. The woman was airlifted to hospital with severe injuries.

Other passengers on the tram immediately pressed the emergency button, bringing the tram to a halt. The brave tram driver immediately grabbed a fire extinguisher and put out the fire.

The perpetrator escaped when the doors opened after the emergency button was pressed. Police are searching intensively for the man.
