Intelligence agencies have provided information to the White House confirming that Ukrainian troops are not surrounded in Russia's Kursk region, despite Donald Trump's contradictory claims.
According to Reuters, citing American and European officials familiar with the intelligence, the Ukrainian forces are under pressure but are not encircled.
Last summer, Ukrainian forces made a swift advance across the Russian border, catching Moscow by surprise after a significant breakthrough of several dozen kilometers.
Recently, the US president echoed the Kremlin’s assertion that Ukrainian troops were surrounded in Kursk, a claim now disputed by intelligence sources.
"THOUSANDS OF UKRAINIAN TROOPS ARE COMPLETELY SURROUNDED BY THE RUSSIAN MILITARY, AND IN A VERY BAD AND VULNERABLE POSITION », wrote Trump last week on Truth Social.
He added: "I have strongly requested to President Putin that their lives be spared. This would be a horrible massacre, one not seen since World War II. God bless them all!!!"
