Iran retaliates with 100 missiles raining down on Tel Aviv

Iran launched a barrage of missiles on Tel Aviv Friday evening in response to a morning Israeli airstrike on Iranian territory, marking a dangerous new escalation in tensions between the two nations.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that the Iranian nuclear program "will be completely destroyed" and said the current operation is just the beginning.

An Israeli military spokesperson stated that Iran fired around 100 missiles, most of which were intercepted by Israel's defense systems—though some did manage to breach the protective shield.

Air raid sirens rang out across Tel Aviv at 9 p.m. local time. According to local media reports, at least 15 people were injured in the strike.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had appeared on state television shortly before the attack, vowing: “The armed forces of the Islamic Republic will inflict heavy blows upon this malevolent enemy.”

Mohammad Pakpour, the newly appointed head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, issued a chilling warning, threatening to "open the gates of Hell" amid growing fears of full-scale war in the region.

Iran’s ambassador to the UN Security Council, Amir Saeid Iravani, claimed that 78 people—including senior officials—were killed in the Israeli strikes earlier in the day, with more than 320 others wounded, most of them civilians.
