Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, has called on the country’s armed forces to remain combat-ready despite the start of negotiations with the United States over a new nuclear agreement.

The two nations held initial talks this weekend in Oman, on neutral ground. Although the discussions were reportedly cordial, Tehran remains cautious, especially as Washington has warned of strong action if no deal is reached.

Speaking to senior military commanders on Sunday, Khamenei said: "The Armed Forces are the country's shield and a refuge for the nation against any aggressor."

According to officials, the talks focused not only on Iran’s nuclear activities but also on its regional influence.

Major General Mohammad Bagheri, chief of staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, echoed Khamenei’s remarks, declaring: "The Armed Forces are fully prepared, supported by the nation, and will leave the enemies longing for their sinister goals."
