Is there a better place to live than the countries in the north of Europe? Apparently not, as these countries once again top the list of the World Happiness Report, which is now in its thirteenth edition.
For the eighth consecutive time, Finland is the happiest country to live in. Denmark and Iceland complete the podium. Following in the top ten are Sweden, Netherlands, Costa Rica, Norway, Israel, Luxembourg and Mexico. Canada is 18th, the United Kingdom 23rd and the United States 24th on this year's list.
The report is based on data from the Gallup World Poll of people in more than 140 countries. The countries are ranked based on their average life evaluations over the preceding three years, so for this report from 2022 to 2024.
The survey asks each participant to evaluate their life as a whole. The report examines six key variables in these life evaluations: gross domestic product per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom, generosity, and perception of corruption.
