Are your thoughts or emotions endlessly looping, making it impossible to relax? Try mirror writing.

The principle is simple: take a pen and write with your non-dominant hand. If you're right-handed, use your left - and vice versa. It doesn't matter what you put on the paper: words, emotions… Don't think too much!

Sit in a quiet place (avoid doing this in an open-plan office!) and start writing slowly, focusing on each movement. Does it feel difficult or awkward? Great, that's the point!

This process forces your thoughts to slow down, connect to the present moment, and activate less-used areas of the brain. Some therapists use this method to release emotions or calm an overheated mind.

Try it in the evening to clear your head or during the day if you're feeling tense. You probably won't write the summer's best-seller, but you might find yourself more at ease!
