The tragedy happened 4000 km from the front. A Russian bomber, the Tu-22M3, crashed this Wednesday 2 April in Siberia.

According to the Kyiv Independent, it's a strategic long-range missile-launching bomber, estimated to be worth more than 60 million euros. The Russian aircraft is known for its ability to carry nuclear warheads. It's reportedly the only one capable of carrying the Tsar Bomba, the most powerful nuclear bomb ever used, according to the media L’Indépendant.

A major loss

The accident is said to have occurred shortly after take-off. According to information from the website avioslegendaires.net, the aircraft allegedly "hit a high-voltage line".

The pilot of the plane died in the accident, the four other crew members managed to eject before impact. To date, no details have been given on their condition.

Significant losses for the Russian armed forces, which continue to "spend" on their fights in Ukraine.
