US President Donald Trump has repeatedly raised the possibility of having his face engraved on the Mount Rushmore National Memorial, alongside those of Theodore Roosevelt, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln.
Donald Trump has dreamed for several years of seeing his face carved into Mount Rushmore.
In January 2025, Republican congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna from Florida introduced a bill to add Donald Trump's face to the famous memorial located in the Black Hills of South Dakota. This initiative is supported by several Trump supporters, who consider his accomplishments worthy of such recognition.
He is not the only American president whose sculpture has been proposed: Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and Ronald Reagan have all been proposed in a similar manner. But in an interview with the New York Times, Dan Wenk, former superintendent of Mount Rushmore, said this seems unlikely.
Indeed, technical and administrative questions remain. The U.S. National Park Service has indicated that there would no longer be enough secure surface area to carve an additional head into the cliff, raising doubts about the physical feasibility of the project. But one thing is certain: the idea is still in the air, and the supporters of the 47th American president are convinced they can carry out this operation successfully.
