Dovilė Šakalienė, head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence, explained that she discussed with the defence ministers of Poland and Finland the integration of the "eastern shield" and the Baltic defence line.
The ministers also discussed Finland's participation in the development of a unified plan to strengthen border security.
According to the Ministry, Ms Šakalienė has held bilateral meetings with the defence ministers of 24 countries over the past three months and has participated in more than 10 multilateral forums.
"In these meetings, a discussion was started on renewing and expanding the counter-mobility concept - following Poland's example, several layers of fortifications, including but not limited to anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, can reinforce the north-eastern flank wall - regional partners intend to seek EU funding to reach this goal," added the Ministry of Defence.
