The British tabloid The Sun believes that main suspect Christian Brückner indeed has something to do with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, and that the girl was killed shortly after her disappearance. Data on a hard drive is said to prove this theory, claims The Sun. And there's more: according to the British tabloid, this hard drive has been in the possession of the police for many years.
Madeleine McCann, then nearly four years old, disappeared in May 2007 while she was on holiday with her parents in Portugal. While her parents were dining with friends at a restaurant in a holiday resort in Praia da Luz, she vanished from her room.
There has still been no real breakthrough in the disappearance case of Maddie McCann. Christian Brückner is officially a suspect, but has not yet been charged due to insufficient substantial evidence against the German. In 2007, Brückner lived in the Algarve. He is currently in prison after being convicted in October 2024 for rape and sexual abuse committed between 2000 and 2017 in Portugal. The Sun investigated the case and reportedly found out that in Brückner's hideout, the German police found a hard drive that directly links him to Maddie's disappearance and also allegedly states that the British toddler died shortly after her disappearance. The existence of this hard drive is said to have always been kept secret by the police.
The new investigation by The Sun will be shown in a documentary on British Channel 4 on Wednesday evening (7th May).
Christian Brückner has allegedly confessed to a former cellmate that he abducted a girl in Portugal. This was stated last year in the court in Braunschweig, where Brückner was on trial for a series of rapes and sexual offences.
