Max Verstappen has insisted that the dismissal of Christian Horner will not impact his future with Red Bull.

The Dutch driver, who has won all four of his world championships with the Austrian team, learned about Horner’s departure just half a day before the announcement, a few days after the British Grand Prix.

Speaking at the drivers' press conference ahead of this Sunday’s Belgian Grand Prix, Verstappen said: “The last one and a half years have not gone how we would have liked, and management decided they wanted to steer the ship in a different direction.”

Management and, of course, the shareholders decided that they wanted a change. They run the team and I’m the driver, so whatever they decide, it’s fully in their right to do what they want,” he added.

Despite Horner’s exit, Verstappen says their personal relationship remains unchanged.

Red Bull has not publicly disclosed the reason for Horner’s dismissal. However, the team has underperformed this season, with Verstappen admitting he is not in a position to fight for the world championship.
