US Vice President JD Vance has said Russia is willing to make "significant concessions" as part of talks between Washington and Moscow aimed at finding a solution to the conflict in Ukraine.

However, Mr. Vance did not rule out the possibility of imposing new sanctions to pressure the Russian government.

In an interview with NBC, Mr. Vance said: "I think the Russians have offered significant concessions for the first time since the conflict began three and a half years ago. They have shown a willingness to soften some of their key demands."

According to some media reports, these concessions concern three key points: first, Russia's acceptance that Ukraine will retain its territorial integrity after the war; second, Moscow's recognition that it will not be able to install a puppet regime in Kyiv; and third, security guarantees have been offered for Ukraine's territorial integrity, but the exact details are still being negotiated.

The diplomatic process continues, with uneven progress and without ruling out new sanctions as a means of exerting pressure.
