Nigel Farage has walked back on his vow to deport all migrants who reach the UK’s shores via illegally small boats.

At a previous press conference, the Reform Party leader had claimed that if his party came to power, it would send thousands of asylum seekers back to their countries of origin, regardless of the political regime in place there.

Speaking in Edinburgh on Wednesday at another press event, Farage was pressed on whether women and children who managed to cross the Channel would also face deportation. He stressed that the majority of arrivals were men.

We’re not even discussing women and children at this stage, there are so many illegal males in Britain,” he said, before suggesting that women and children might still be subject to deportation in the future.

In recent weeks, anti-immigration protests have taken place in both England and Scotland, including near hotels housing migrants in Falkirk, Perth, and Aberdeen.
