North Korea has issued a sharp warning to Japan following Tokyo’s plans to test its newly developed futuristic weapon.

The U.S. ally has successfully developed a railgun—a weapon that uses electromagnetic force to launch high-speed projectiles—and is now reportedly preparing to conduct a full-scale test. However, Kim Jong-un’s regime has strongly advised against such a move.

Following an initial test conducted in 2023, Japan now intends to mount the railgun on a naval turret to test it under simulated combat conditions.

The reckless military buildup of Japan, a war criminal state, to make a preemptive attack on nuclear weapons states while turning the archipelago into a huge powder magazine will be a suicidal act of dashing toward the second defeat,” said security analyst Kim Ryo Won, as quoted by KCNA, North Korea's state media.

In recent years, Japan has strengthened its defense cooperation with both the United States and South Korea, aiming to deter any threat from Pyongyang.

While North Korea claimed in January to have successfully launched a medium-range ballistic missile, South Korean officials remain skeptical about the true extent of Pyongyang’s military capabilities.
