Oscar Piastri claims win at Belgian GP

Oscar Piastri won the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday after overtaking his McLaren teammate Lando Norris on the opening lap.

Heavy rain delayed the start of the race by over an hour, but the Australian driver managed to master the soaked track to claim his sixth win of the season, finishing ahead of Norris and Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari.

Despite running different strategies, Norris was unable to close the gap to Piastri, who had pitted earlier in the race.

Piastri now holds a 16-point lead over his teammate going into this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix, and sits 81 points ahead of Max Verstappen.

Piastri said following the race: "I knew that lap one was going to be probably my best chance of winning the race. I was a bit disappointed it was a rolling start because I thought that would take away some opportunity but when I was that close I knew I was going to lift a little bit less than Lando did. A bit lively over the hill but then the slipstream helped me out."
