This is Donald Trump's bitter observation who, however, doesn't lose hope for an end to the war. He made these remarks during an interview given to the American television channel NBC.
Trump is beginning to lose hope for an end to the war in Ukraine: "There's tremendous hatred between Putin and Zelensky," he stated.
The 30-day ceasefire promoted by Washington continues to be rejected by Putin.
For some time, the American president has been threatening to withdraw from the mediation process started at the beginning of his mandate, in the absence of concrete measures from Moscow and Kiev in favour of a ceasefire.
Negotiations have been at a stalemate for weeks and Russia continues to insist on a three-day truce on May 9th, Victory Day.
A proposal that plays into the Kremlin's hands which, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory in the Second World War, has invited several world leaders to Moscow, including the Chinese Xi Jinping, on an official visit to Russia from May 7th to 10th. Mr Zelensky has already stated that Ukraine would not be able to "guarantee the safety" of participants in the May 9th parade.
