French police arrested four suspects on Tuesday in the case of the murdered French toddler Émile Soleil.

The little boy disappeared on 8 July 2023 in Le Haut-Vernet, a small hamlet in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The toddler was 2.5 years old when he vanished. It was only eight months after his disappearance that his lifeless body was found in a forest, next to a chapel, less than two kilometres from Le Haut-Vernet. A hiker discovered a skull there, which upon investigation was found to belong to the French toddler. However, all leads went cold.

And now there appears to be a sudden breakthrough in the investigation as four suspects have been arrested. The arrests include his two maternal grandparents and two of their adult children. They are suspected of voluntary manslaughter and concealing a body, it is reported. At the time of his disappearance, Émile was visiting his grandparents. Detectives are currently also conducting forensic examinations at various locations.
