The figures from PSG's victory against Inter Milan in the Champions League final in Munich speak volumes: not just the 5-0 scoreline, but also the 2 dead, 559 arrests throughout France and 192 injured.
PSG have won the Champions League 2024-2025 after a resounding 5-0 win against Inter Milan. This sparked celebrations in Paris and across France, but it also led to chaos. Two people ended up losing their lives.
“Celebrate without destroying everything,” was the message from PSG player Ousmane Dembélé after he won the Champions League with the 5-0 victory over Inter Milan at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germanny. However, his appeal fell on deaf ears: after the final whistle in Paris, not only did celebrations break out, but there was also unrest in the French capital.
The toll is particularly heavy: there were 2 fatalities and 192 injuries, with 559 arrests made throughout France, including 392 in Paris, 22 police officers injured, and 692 instances where a fire needed to be extinguished.
Among the two fatalities was a 17-year-old youth who was stabbed in a fan village in Dax, a city in the French department of Landes, in the southwest of France. A 23-year-old man died in Paris after his scooter collided with a car.
