Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has called on the Russian military command to significantly strengthen the combat capabilities of Russia's land forces.

According to Putin, land forces remain the dominant force in "modern military operations, whatever their scale and intensity". In this context, he emphasised the importance of boosting their efforts. "It's essential to quickly increase their combat potential, create a solid foundation for their further development, and ensure the development of advanced weapons systems with top-class tactical and technical features and modernisation potential," the President said.

The Russian President also called for the navy to be further developed and claimed that Russia is expected to have the world's most advanced nuclear triad.

"Currently, the proportion of modern weapons and equipment in our strategic nuclear forces has reached 95%. This is an important figure, essentially the highest among all nuclear powers," Putin said.

Continuing on this theme, he ordered that special attention be given to nuclear weapons as a guarantee of Russia's sovereignty in the new state armament programme covering the years 2027 to 2036.
