Russia launched a drone strike on the Kharkiv region on Friday, injuring at least 28 people and sparking several fires, according to regional governor Oleh Synyehubov.
Multiple districts in the city were targeted, including Sloboda, Kyiv, Osnovyansky, and Saltivsky. The Osnovyansky district suffered the most damage, with a house and a shop destroyed. Debris from the Russian drones was scattered over hundreds of meters.
“The consequences of the massive attack on Kharkiv by enemy UAVs are being dealt with. Emergency services are doing everything necessary,” Synyehubov said.
At the same time, Russia claimed to have intercepted over 100 Ukrainian drones headed toward Crimea.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the incident on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Right now, Russia is once again attacking Ukraine. Kharkiv has been attacked by dozens of Shaheeds.”
