On Wednesday on the Franceinfo set, RN MEP, Thierry Mariani, questioned Emmanuel Macron's recent speech regarding the war in Ukraine and the rearmament of Europe.

"Who can seriously believe that Russian tanks will arrive in Berlin or Paris tomorrow when they're not even capable of taking Kramatorsk or Slaviansk?"

Recently, the French head of state asserted that Russia had become a threat to all of Europe. "Who can believe, today, that Russia will stop at Ukraine? Russia has become a threat to France and Europe. We can no longer take Russia for its word", he proclaimed. Thierry Mariani responded: "Yes, Russia illegally attacked Ukraine but from there to letting people believe that it wants to invade Europe, all this seems totally absurd to me", said the MEP.

Mr. Mariani goes even further. "And from time to time, there's this tune, why not a European power, why not a European shield?," agreeing nonetheless that Emmanuel Macron had "clarified one thing by saying that the nuclear button will remain under the competence of the French president." "However, if we station elements of our nuclear force on foreign territory, will we have total command of the decision? Of course not, it will be shared with the state hosting them. This is an extremely dangerous decision and debate," he concluded.
