The European Union (EU) stated on Monday that the military cooperation between Russia and North Korea demonstrates that Moscow "doesn't want peace" in Ukraine and is "desperately" seeking support.

"The cooperation with Russia and the intensification of military cooperation between Russia and North Korea sends a very clear message: Russia isn't interested in peace," said Anitta Hipper, spokesperson for the EU, during the daily press conference of the European Commission.

She added that "Russia's aim remains to eliminate Ukraine, and Russia's desperately seeking any help it can get to support this illegal aggression, including from actors that severely disrupt peace and security in the world".

"It's therefore a cry of despair from Russia to rely on such actors. It shows how isolated they are, how much we are weakening them, even with sanctions. Hence their desperation," he stated. This is why, according to Mr. Hipper, the EU continues "to work even harder on the 17th package of sanctions (against Russia) and to support Ukraine".
