Satellite imagery has confirmed the arrival of two U.S. B-52 bombers at the Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia, located in the Indian Ocean, as Washington ramps up its long-range military capabilities amid escalating tensions with Iran.
The deployment is seen as a strategic move by the U.S. to increase pressure on Tehran, as both nations continue to struggle to reach a new nuclear agreement.
While former President Donald Trump has stated a preference for a diplomatic resolution, he has not ruled out military action if talks fail to produce results soon.
The B-52 bombers have joined six B-2 stealth bombers already stationed at the remote base, where they have been positioned for several weeks.
In March, an Iranian official told The Telegraph that all U.S. bases in the region could be considered potential targets by Iran.
