This story takes place in Belgium. A school suffered significant damage because of a pool installed on the roof. Too heavy with its water, it broke through the roof. The damages are enormous.

Fortunately, it was the school holidays... and Sunday, as the Sainte-Begge Institute in Andenne near Namur in Belgium lost part of its roof on 4th May 2025. The culprit of this property disaster is the pool of the caretaker living in the establishment. He had installed, without permission, a freestanding pool on the school’s flat roof. Under the weight of hundreds of litres of water, the roof gave way. Not only did the structure collapse over 57 square metres, but all the water poured into the mini chasm.

A Solution for the New Term

Results of the hole and the cascade is two destroyed classrooms. There's also a risk of the building collapsing. Engineers must analyse the situation and check the structure after this unusual water damage. The priority will, of course, be to find premises for the pupils who will return on Monday 12th May. With this story, the caretaker risks being drowned by some administrative, financial, and professional troubles.
