Senior Iranian military officials have openly threatened to “open the gates of hell” if the country is targeted by the United States.
Major General Hossein Salami issued the stark warning amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran over stalled nuclear negotiations and ongoing U.S. sanctions against the Middle Eastern nation.
The fiery remarks come as the U.S. recently deployed two B-52 bombers to its Diego Garcia base in the Indian Ocean. President Donald Trump is also scheduled to visit several Middle Eastern countries in the coming weeks to discuss business deals and attract new investments.
In a video broadcast by state television, Major General Salami warned the U.S. of severe consequences in the event of any military action against Iran.
“These are serious warnings to the American authorities. If you make the slightest mistake, we will open the gates of hell for you,” he declared.
The U.S. president recently reiterated that any country or entity purchasing oil or petrochemical products from Iran would be barred from doing business with Washington.
