A challenger to the Renault 5 in Europe, the Kia EV3 has won the title of World Car of the Year (World Car Awards). The electric Korean car thus captivated the jury of automotive journalists from around the globe.

Congratulations to Kia, once again the winner of the WCOTY. Its jury of journalists selects the car sold in at least 2 continents and 2 major markets that best meets various objective and subjective criteria. These jurors, numbering 96, are from 30 countries from all corners of the world. And it’s the Kia EV3 that wins the title of 2025 World Car of the Year. The compact electric SUV thus outpaced the two other finalists in the ultimate phase of the process: the BMW X3 and the Hyundai Inster (also known as Casper)! The other cars in the race for the sprint were the Audi A5, the Ford Mustang, the Mini Electric Cooper, the Suzuki Swift, the Toyota Camry and Landcruiser, and the Volkswagen Tiguan and Tayron.

Celebrations in Seoul

The Korean brand managed to win over the panel with the EV3 thanks to its style, range, charging speed and overall quality. The trophy will be presented at the New York Auto Show. The Kia EV3 succeeds the Kia EV9 winner in 2024, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 in 2023 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in 2022! In 2021, it was the Volkswagen ID4 that won, but in 2020, it was the Kia Telluride. South Korea has thus occupied the top spot of the World Car Awards almost every year for the past 5 years. And no American car at the top, since this title has been won only by Koreans, Europeans, and Japanese since 2006.
