The head of the U.S. military base in Greenland has been dismissed after allegedly sending an email expressing disapproval of comments made by U.S. Vice President JD Vance.

The U.S. military’s Space Operations Command announced that Colonel Susannah Meyers was removed from her post at Pituffik Space Base due to a "loss of confidence in her ability to lead."

During a visit last month, Vance criticized Denmark, claiming the country had not done a “good job” with the local population and had failed to provide adequate security during his visit.

Shortly after the vice president’s visit, Meyers reportedly wrote: “I do not presume to understand current politics, but what I do know is the concerns of the U.S. administration discussed by Vice President Vance on Friday are not reflective of Pituffik Space Base.”

Military.com, which published the email, reported that its authenticity had been confirmed by the US Space Force.

Colonel Meyers has been replaced by Colonel Shawn Lee at Pituffik Space Base, according to a statement released by the US Space Force on Thursday.
